Day for Daniel is today but the school wore red on Wednesday to coincide with a visit from a from the ‘Tweed to the Territory’ tour.
The ‘Tweed to the Territory’ tour is a joint initiative between the Daniel Morcombe Foundation and the Australian Federal Police’s Missing Persons and Cyber and Child Safety teams.
LPS teacher Joanne Lothian who got the school involved with Day for Daniel last year was pleased the school got a visit in the two weeks leading up to Day for Daniel for 2016.
With ambassadors from the AFP and Sesame Street’s Elmo, the tour’s focus on providing child and cyber safety awareness presentations.
Ms Lothian said LPS had been running a six week child protection program at the school to coincide with Day for Daniel.
“I feel that being a teacher it is important to keep kids safe these days.”
The Daniel Morcombe Foundation was established by parents Bruce and Denise Morcombe in 2005 after their son Daniel was abducted and murdered in December 2003 while waiting to catch a bus on the Sunshine Coast.
