Funding of $250 million to upgrade the Great Western Highway between Hartley Valley and Forty Bends will improve traffic flow, safety and travel conditions for motorists.

To minimise the impact on residents and allow access for motorists and other road users, work will continue to be carried out at varying times at different sections of the project between Tuesday November 1 and Friday December 23, weather permitting.

Removal of old road surface, asphalting and installation of traffic controls will occur through Hartley Valley, River Lett Hill and Forty Bends between Sundays and Fridays from 6pm to 6am.

Installation of new drainage, concreting and landscaping in Forty Bends and Hartley Valley will be carried out on Saturdays from 7am to 6pm.

Finishing of the new road and concrete saw cutting at Forty Bends will be carried out between Mondays and Saturdays from 6pm to 6am.

To ensure the safety of workers, motorists and other road users, temporary lane closures and speed limits will be in place.

Motorists are advised to keep to speed limits and follow the direction of traffic controllers and signs.
