It was the eighth annual Springsong, a performance held by the J.O.Y. singers to bring people in the community together to share in the power of music and raise money for the local Women and Children’s Crisis Centre.
Donations at the start of the event totalled more than $700, which will all go to a very worthy cause.
The J.O.Y. singers performed a whole list of Christian songs and psalms, singing as a group, giving solo performances and eventually getting the crowd to join in as well.
The J.O.Y. singers have been performing to local nursing home residents since 2002, and one of the performers, Grace Knight, said getting to sing in a group is an experience all should enjoy.
“It’s good for the endorphins and oxytocin [to sing]... and to sing in a group, well that’s even better.”

“I just love to sing,” Ms Knight said.
“It’s good for the endorphins and oxytocin… and to sing in a group, well that’s even better.”
She said the J.O.Y. singers are a group of interdenominational—meaning ‘of many faiths’—ladies who simply love to get together and sing.
Solo performances were given by Margaret Blundell, who performed “The Stranger of Galilee”, and Shirley Addison, who performed “This Love of Mine”.
The whole crowd joined together to sing unforgettable sacred songs like “All Things Bright and Beautiful” and “What a Friend We Have in Jesus”.
