It was the Wallerawang Branch of the Central Acclimatisation Society’s first ever attempt to host the “Gone Fishing Day” community event on the October 16, 2016 here in our local area.

It’s estimated more than 400 people attended the event, from not only the local area but all across the country as well.
Prize for Largest Trout went to Wallerawang’s Natalie MacCullagh with a 65.5cm rainbow trout!
Prize for Largest bag of Redfin went to Ben Frazer (Junior Division) and Graham Simms (Senior Division)
The major prize for the 3 metre Fishing Kayak went to Scott Fittler from Lithgow.
With more than 247 registered participants, the age range for the attendees varied from 1 to 80 years old.
Funds raised from the event will go toward dollar-for-dollar fish stocking programs, river riparian restoration/rehabilitation, fishing platforms, signage and other recreational fishing projects.
