Helmets have secured the Neville Kerr Memorial Trophy for being the Minor Premiers and now have the first week off.

The local derby at Club Lithgow saw Miscues inflict a 4 – 3 defeat of Jiggers. Miscues cemented fifth spot while Jiggers finished second.  Red Sox and Pockets were on equal points coming into their game and whoever won determined 3rd and 4th positions.

Red Sox won 4 – 3 but they had to win the last game by at least 5 points which they did.

Outlaws have been Minor Premiers, Premiers of many competitions and now they have won the Wooden Spoon.

Outlaws played Tall Timbers for the wooden spoon although Outlaws won 4 – 3 Timbers had enough competition points to avoid it. Both these teams can put their cues in the rack until 2017.

Welch’s Highway Smash Repairs Jiggers v Hunter Mining Methods Miscues: Logan Spice in his first competition has 5 wins to his name and was trying to improve on this against Ritchie Bilby who also had 5 wins.  This was a good game but it was Bilby that prevailed in a close game 46 – 39.

Ian Bulkeley was making only his fifth appearance when he played Matt Tattersall who has been on fire winning his past 5 games.  This was a high quality game that saw Bulkeley take an early lead. Tattersall took his time and finally took the lead only to see Bulkeley just pip him at the post 58 – 53.

Jamie Glencorse played Garry Bender. Glencorse had learnt his lesson from their last game and kept the lead and to only just win 52 – 46.

Troy Clarke and Kevin Slaven both their team’s highest handicappers played each other and their movements was akin to watching the ‘formaldehyde express’ set in.  Clarke had a bit of luck through the game and two silly decisions could have cost him but he came good again to win 76 – 50.

Wayne Lewis was on the starting blocks waiting for the gun and when it went off it was Dennis Goodwin who came flying out instead and that was how the game panned out. Goodwin cruised to a 69 – 38 win.

Greg Sutton and Brian Nightingale played in the first round with Sutton winning easily; this time Sutton had no luck. Most of Suttons shots were jawing or just missing the pocket and Nightingale got a good 59 – 45 win. Players of the match were Brian Nightingale and Troy Clarke.

C and W Printing Red Sox v Williams and Sons Butchery Pockets: John Lyons played Michael Wellings for the first time since the first round when Wellings gave Lyons a lesson.  Lyons pulled ahead; Wellings reduced the deficit and was in a position to win on the last 3. Lyons closed out the game on the blue and pink to win 59 – 21.

Garry Nolan has been on a roll winning his last 4 games and he was playing Todd Bates who has been struggling with just the 2 wins.  Bates pulled ahead quickly and stayed there all game and Nolan was not playing well and Bates won 53 – 51.

Jeff Stait wasn’t at his best against Luke Morris. Morris potted well and surged ahead. Stait got close enough to win on the last 3 balls but missed the blue and Morris didn’t miss to win 62 – 37.

Tom Gaynor is in a big slump at the moment and has lost his last 7 games and he was going to try and improve when he played Shane Eagle. Gaynor came alive once on the colours but when he set the blue up Eagle had no hesitation to sink it to win 47 – 28.

Aaron Engeler played his best game in a long time against Trystan Ford. Both played well and it was Engeler who powered ahead and Ford at the end needed snookers with just 2 balls remaining.  Engeler won 67 – 58 and was so excited he was running around like the Swedish Chef from The Muppets.

Rod Denley had to win his game by at least 5 points for his team to win against his opponent Sharon Holt. Holt needed a snooker with just the pink and black left but Denley potted both for a 51 – 34 win.  The players of the match were Aaron Engeler and Luke Morris.

Carpet One Tall Timbers v Exceltech Industrial Electronics Outlaws: Steve Hewitt played Leo Keeley in a good battle and when these two last played it was Hewitt who won by 24 points so Keeley was after revenge. Keeley was in vintage form as he pulled back the lead and surged to get his revenge and win by 25 points 86 – 61.

Peter Richards for the second time this comp was trying to put 2 consecutive wins together against the usually hard to beat Shannon Baer.  Richards continued his good form and Baer was slow out of the blocks but he did make it hard for Richards as he cruised to a 49 – 32 win.

Lawrence Creasy and Michael Andrews played and both have not been setting the competition alight. Andrews playing well easily caught the 19 deficit and was really steady as he hit the lead and stayed there for a 54 – 42 win.

Keith Morris who finally won last week after 5 consecutive losses played Frank Wawn who after 4 straight losses was back to form winning his last 2 games.  Both of them played well but it was Wawn who took advantage of his good form to win 68 – 34.

Michael McCosker and Justin Nelson are not having the best of comps with McCosker only on 2 wins and Nelson 3 wins.  This was a fairly open game and it was McCosker that was to prevail in the end 87 – 52.

Bill Cook played Peter Warner in a fairly relaxed manner. Cook had a 35 start and Warner countered that with a good 24 break but it was not enough as Cook only just got home 80 – 75. Players of the match were Frank Wawn and Bill Cook.
