Police have charged a woman after being involved in two pursuits with police and two crashes in Lithgow yesterday.

About 11.05am (Tuesday 18 October 2016), officers from Mudgee Traffic & Highway Patrol were patrolling the Castlereagh Highway, about 5kms north of Cullen Bullen, when they saw a green Hyundai Excel exceeding the speed limit
Police pulled the vehicle over. As officers approached the vehicle, it accelerated harshly and continued driving and a pursuit was initiated.
The car was pursued for a short period. As it approached the village of Cullen Bullen, police terminated the pursuit.
About 11.15am, officers from Bathurst Traffic & Highway Patrol were patrolling the Castlereagh Highway, towards Wallerawang, when they saw the green Hyundai Excel approach them.
Police attempted to stop the vehicle, which accelerated harshly and a second pursuit was initiated.
The vehicle was pursued for a short period before police terminated the pursuit after the green Hyundai allegedly crossed to the incorrect side of the road.
About 11.30am, officers from Lithgow Police Station were leaving the station when they saw the vehicle on Mort Street.
Police followed the vehicle and when it stopped, officers approached and attempted to open the locked driver’s door. The vehicle reversed and crashed into the front of the police vehicle.
In the interest of public safety, police did not pursue the vehicle.
The green Hyundai drove off, allegedly travelling through a red traffic signal before being involved in a crash with a Holden Commodore on Main Street.
The vehicle continued for a short distance before it slowed and stopped near Martini Parade where officers again approached the driver.
The driver refused to get out and she was forcibly removed from the vehicle.
The 34-year-old woman was arrested and taken to Lithgow Police Station, before being conveyed to Lithgow Hospital for blood and urine tests.
Upon returning to Lithgow Police Station she was charged with numerous traffic offences including exceeding the speed limit by over 45 km and two counts of leading police on a pursuit.
She was bail refused to appear before Lithgow Local Court today (Wednesday 19 October 2016).
