MANY hours of research will be marked on Sunday at the launch of a book which delves into the history of the Portland Cement Works.

The book, a Portland Tidy Towns project, will cover the years from 1901-1993 and includes research into the lives of those lost in the Cement Works.

The official launch of the book which is officially titled “Portland’s Past, Insight to those lost in the Cement Works” will be held at Portland’s Coronation Hotel on Sunday at 11am.

This is a great chance to have a look at the book which has been put together by Portland Tidy Towns and to have a glimpse at an important chapter in Portland’s history.

For more information on the event or the book itself, contact Wendy Elbourn on 0419140407 or publicity officer for Portland Tidy Towns Kayline Caddis on 63555557.
