After a three-all draw between Lithgow Workmens Club and Zig Zag in the major semi, the rematch in the B-grade Lithgow men’s hockey grand final was always going to be close, which proved to be the case with the first half of the game played end to end with both defences called on to keep the scores nil-all at break.

The second half saw Workies start to get on top of Ziggys, with a couple of Jamie Giokaris rockets hitting the post, it seemed only a matter of time before Workies scored.
With 10 minutes to go the deadlock was finally broken after a short corner variation saw Ian Nightingale score for Workies.
Zig Zag kept up the pressure on Workies defence and looked to equalise when Mick Kelly drag flicked the ball passed the outstretched hand of Dylan Taylor in goals only to be denied by a great stick save on the line by Peter Evans.
Full time whistle sounded shortly after seeing Workies victorious 1 nil in a thrilling high quality grand final.
