The club’s men’s side won the first grade premiership, to go sit alongside knockout wins in both the Bathurst Knockout’s first division competition and the pre-season, New Era Cup knockout.
Leading the charge in all three of those wins were both Tom Loader and Chris Boardman, so it came as no surprise that both were the big winners on the night.
Loader won the Villages United players’ player award while Boardman capped a sensational year with club’s best and fairest gong.
For us, it was a great way to end a memorable year, having won the premiership.
- Des Crawford
Ray Thorne was deemed the club’s best forward while Josh Moore was outstanding out wide during the club’s run to the 2016 title, and was duly awarded the mantel of club’s best back.
While Eric Hall took out the club’s most courageous player award.
Champion pivot Des Crawford said the club was over the moon after a stirring 2016 season that netted three titles.
“For us, it was a great way to end a memorable year, having won the premiership,” Crawford said. “That, along with the knockout wins, made for a great year.”
