After starting as a casual teacher in 1984, Mrs Corney will finish her time as a teacher at the school today to spend more time with family and travelling.
At a surprise farewell event on Tuesday held at the school, students sent off the retiring teacher with a shout to the surrounding mountains followed by an echo in return.
Before the shout out, principal Vicky Gillmore had spoken of Mrs Corney's passion, inventiveness and organisation that she had brought to the school with her “bag of tricks’.
“I have never seen the things she does here at any other school.”
Mrs Gillmore highlighted the school’s Stephanie Alexander gardening project and Mrs Corney’s involvement in sport as part of the teacher’s many achievements at Zig Zag Public School.
