This year we will see events right across the state on Sunday October 16, with NSW’s inaugural ‘Gone Fishing Day’.
‘Gone Fishing Day’ not only gives people the opportunity to try their hand at an enjoyable pastime, but it will also provide education on the importance of habitats, protecting the environment and responsible fishing.
Events will be run in the Lithgow Local Government Area and Bathurst with two local fishing clubs successful in grant applications for $2,000 each to assist run their events.
The Wallerawang branch of Central Acclimatisation Society will be hosting a gala day at Wallerawang’s Lake Wallace in October.

Family Business Morning Tea:
Family businesses are considered the backbone of the NSW economy with half a million operating across the country.
Next Monday (September 19) we will celebrate National Family Business Day with the first ever ‘Family Business Morning Tea’.
This is a day of recognition for family businesses who are the heartbeat of local rural and regional communities, employing around 50 percent of the Australian workforce.
I encourage every family business in the Bathurst Electorate to share some time with family, employees and other business in the local area to encourage and thank all who dedicate their time to keeping small business thriving in our local communities.

Public Reserves Management Funding (PRMF):
Over $337,000 is being distributed to 23 volunteer groups across the electorate who support, care for and maintain public facilities in our communities.
I have visited some fantastic projects at showgrounds and public reserves in the past couple of weeks that have been successful in their applications for this year’s PRMF.
The Lithgow LGA’s Hassans Walls Reserve and Pearson’s Lookout will benefit.
Works include new access roads, kitchen facilities, fencing and restoration works, with much of the work completed by local trades and businesses.
These facilities are cared for, maintained and enhanced by some incredible volunteer groups and it is great to assist with funding to make these projects happen.

Asian Cup Footy Fund:
Local football clubs are set to benefit from the establishment of a $4 million fund to deliver better community facilities driven from the success of the 2015 Asian Cup Tournament.
The booming popularity of football is already bringing communities together across the entire Bathurst Electorate and now players of all ages across the state will directly benefit from the success of the 2015 Asian Cup.
This fund is an initiative of the NSW Government, Football NSW and Northern NSW Football with grant funding for club projects available for up to 50% of the net project costs, with a maximum funding contribution of $150,000 per project.
Applications are open now and close on February 24 2017.
