The Major Semi Final for Panthers is against Bathurst St Pat’s at Lithgow Hockey Complex at 1:30pm.
Both Panthers men and women have finished the regular competition as minor premiers, but the girls pulled way out in front with a 18 point lead ahead of St Pat’s on the ladder.
The past two encounters for St Pat’s and Panthers this season have seen Bathurst sent packing.
Their first match was a devastating loss for St Pat’s, 11-2 in Lithgow.
The second was an easier pill to swallow, 4-1, but Panthers remain red hot favourites.
For Bathurst to come out in front they would need to play their best game all season.
While Amanda Saladine is still on the mend from a nasty rib injury she looks set to play.
Panthers certainly won’t lose any strength if subbing in bench players.
Western Advocate Sports Editor Anya Whitelaw said the reason they play so well is because their history runs deep.
“They’ve played together for so long now, they really know where each other are,” she said.
“Their transitions, one touch passing… They can really rely on their team mates to be there.”
Ms Whitelaw said where some teams might lack in one area and make up for it in the others, Panthers have assets across the board.
Special mention was made to Jess Luchetti in goals, Saladine, Roxsanne Van Veen and Andrea Gillard for their stellar performances this season.
The real prize waiting at the end of this match is a potential home grand final.
While the prospect of a Panthers win on Saturday seems something of a safe bet, that long-awaited third premiership will make certain they don’t get complacent.
Get down to the grounds on Saturday, don the purple and start them on their way.
