Good news week

THE announcement this week that EnergyAustralia has received as many as 14 firm expressions of interest in utilising the now redundant Wallerawang Power Station for new industry is the most encouraging news for the local area in some time. The column understands the EOIs included the large area of flat industrial land adjacent to the Castlereagh Highway which at one time years ago was touted for an aluminium plant and later a silicon plant, neither of which — perhaps fortunately with the benefit of hindsight — went ahead.
