The man was taken to Lithgow Police Station following his arrest at a home in Lilye Place, where he was charged with special aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence; police pursuit; take and drive conveyance without consent of owner; and drive whilst disqualified.
The break and enter offence relates to an incident on York Road, Jamisontown, where it is alleged the man broke into a home while armed with a pistol and knife.
The pursuit offence relates to an incident on Wednesday July 20, where it is alleged the man led police on a pursuit through South Penrith and Colyton in a stolen Ford Falcon.
He was refused bail to appear at Lithgow Local Court on Friday.
THURSDAY 5PM: Thursday afternoon on Lilye Street, a cul-de-sac off Landa Steet, was the scene of a full blown police operation with specialised officers and vehicle attending a residence and apprehending a man.
The 38-year-old man was arrested following investigations into an aggravated break and enter.
Officers from the Tactical Operations Unit assisted Penrith detectives with the arrest.
The man has been taken to Lithgow Police Station where he is assisting police with inquiries.
The arrest relates to outstanding warrants and an ongoing investigation into an aggravated break and enter at Jamisontown last month.
Inquiries are continuing.
