A bit of luck helped them when a favourable deflection off the Panthers goalposts led to the winning try in dying stages of the game.
Wolves coach Graeme Osborne said the Panthers were probably the better side on the day.
“But that’s footy, you play to the final whistle and the bounce of the ball.
“I think we played our best footy in the last fifteen minutes of the game.

“That was time when we needed it and we came home over the top of them.
“We were missing a few players too.
“Dylan Glenn was suspended who is in our halves which unsettled our play a little bit and we had three blokes away at work.
“We only had two on the bench.”
Osborne singled out Wolves centre Mitch Daley for a good game.
He also said both his front rowers carted the ball forward well.
The win still has the under 18s in fourth position on the Group 10 ladder behind the third-placed Bathurst Panthers despite both teams having seven wins each and the Wolves an extra bye and draw.
The under 18s Wolves will face another premiership contender this weekend.
Lithgow will travel to Mudgee to take on the second placed Dragons side.

THE Bathurst Panthers Ladies league Tag side was too strong for the at-home Lithgow Wolves team.
The Panthers made the most of the cold and blustery conditions and maintained their position on top of the Group 10 Ladies league Tag ladder.
Hanna Healey scored a good try to get some points on the board for the Wolves team that is still looking for its first win of the season.
The side’s best opportunity to finish the year on a positive note may be this weekend’s clash against the Mudgee Dragons ladies.
Mudgee sits in eighth spot above Lithgow and were also on the wrong end of a big score against CYMS on the weekend.
