Jaidyn Goodwin’s defence on Wagga’s import player (and the League’s highest scorer) Gage Day was outstanding, sustaining him for the whole game. Jaidyn had a great game scoring as well. Lazers’ captain Adam Marjoram led by example, with great three point shooting and strong defence.
The final quarter was physical, as Wagga players used their bodies to try and out muscle the smaller Lazers, however Lazers took control. In the final minute Ryley Hughes was fouled and injured his wrist. He shot his free throws in pain, creating a necessary eight point buffer, so even when Wagga made two three point shots the game was Lithgow’s. Top scorers: Issac Mack 33, Jaidyn Goodwin 20, Adam Marjoram 17, Michael Cox 10; for Wagga Gage Day 38.
The Lazers’ coaching staff were pleased with the team’s effort. They will now prepare for the final series; from here on in Lazers will only progress if they win. Lazers understand their quarter final game will be in Lithgow on August 6 against the second placed team in Pool B.
