Confederates went into the tough women’s Premier League Hockey road trip with the goal of potentially impacting Parkes’ finals aspirations and if nothing else, they gave the feisty United a bit of a wake up call leading into the semi-finals.
“It was a bit of deja vu really, we’ve found the lead early in a few games then gone on to lose. I think it’s just a bit of maturity and experience, we’re a very young side,” Reith said.
“The girls produced some outstanding passages of hockey, one of which set up our goal, but there was just a couple of momentary lapses which Parkes took advantage of.
“As a coach it was still pleasing because they’re putting our plans and what we’re working into practice, we just need to keep pushing on.”
Samara Beasley slotted Confederates’ only goal in the 3-1 loss very early on.
Two Parkes goals in as many minutes, from Peta Fagan and Paige Hay, just before half-time gave United the lead though.
Em Dean then found the back of the net in the second half to secure the 3-1 victory.
