Heavy flurries were reported at Portland, while Mount Victoria and the Jenolan Caves area were also hit.
Snow was also settling in Hartley on Friday afternoon.
Police have advised that road closures will be in place at Sunny Corner Road at Portland and Meadow Flat.
At least one road accident was allegedly reported to have occurred at the Meadow Flat intersection of Sunny Corner Road.
Motorists travelling further afield have been warned to take extra care on the Mitchell Highway between Bathurst and Orange due to the conditions, as have those headed towards the Blue Mountains.
Snow is predicted above 700 metres on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning.
