DOUBTERS predicted that the League Tag competition would only last a year or so.
Those doubters have been proven very wrong with the competitions in both the Group 10 and New Era Cup going from strength to strength.
In the Lithgow district, Lithgow Workmens Club have been fielding a side since its inception in Group 10 while in the New Era Cup teams from the Wallerawang Warriors, Lithgow Giants, Lithgow Bears and Portland are all competing at a high level.
There are many girls experiencing League Tag for the first time, but the big thing to have come out of the the competitions is the enjoyment the girls are having — whether they win, draw or lose.
Lithgow Workies have a new look side, the side boasting a number of younger girls who are on the improve each week.
A number of the Wolves’ senior players from last year withdrew, taking with them a lot of experience.
Their absence gives a new wave of keen and enthusiastic Wolves girls the chance to show their wares and they are really enjoying their tag.
At Portland, the League Tag girls have created history with the club entering a girls side, the Fillies, in the New Era Cup competition for the very first time and like the Wolves have several girls experiencing their first taste of League Tag.
With the club celebrating
their 100
years in rugby league
at Portland, the inclusion
of the side is the
perfect time to do so.
The Giants girls are
in their second year,
but have a number of
new girls joining the
side.
The Giants are captain-
coached by
Carlee Vanderhaar
who leads by example.
The Oz league
games are attracting
good crowds who
have been impressed
with the girls skill,
speed and enthusiasm
