TWO talented Lithgow musicians, Dave Webb and Brooke Cornwell, hit the stage in front of the footlights at Bathurst last night for the opening production of ‘Rock of Ages’.
The production was presented by the Bathurst Carillon Theatre Society at the Bathurst Memorial Entertainment Centre.
The cast has been rehearsing for up to three nights a week since December last year and it has now come together brilliantly with the cast excited about opening night.
The story line goes “In 1987 on the Sunset Strip, a small town girl met a big city rocker and in LA’s most famous rock club they fell in love to the greatest songs of the ‘80s …”
Dave starred in the Lithgow Musical Society’s ‘Evita’ and then backed up as Rapunzel’s Prince in “Into The Woods”.
In Rock of Ages, he portrays Stacee Jaxx, a rock god stepping away from his band Arsenal to pursue a solo career.
Much like his character, Dave performs his acoustic act in local hotels, restaurants, parties, weddings and special events.
For Brooke, it was her debut in a musical and she performed with all the aplomb of a veteran.
It was not only her first time performing in a musical but she also had the pressure of being one of the lead roles.
“I was extremely excited but also nervous,” Brooke said.
“The cast is amazing, they are some of the best and talented people I have met.
“I portray Regina who is very opinionated and passionate with everything she does.”
The show will run over two weekends with nine performances being belted out through to May 14.
Tickets are online at www.bmec.com.au (or 6333 6161).
