IT has been 10 years since the Mountain Cruizers Car Club was formed and to celebrate their anniversary they had a dinner at the Switchback Restaurant in Lithgow.
In 2006 a group of Lithgow men decided to form their own car club as there were no other clubs that suited the style of vehicle they all had.
As with all newly formed clubs membership numbers were low and there were other issues that did not quite go to plan.
It was a difficult few years that followed and resulted in a few major changes.
In 2011 the constitution and a set of bylaws were rewritten to form a legal guideline for the club to follow.
Along with these changes a committee was elected that works well together to ensure the everyday running of the club is at its best.
Today the club has more than 80 members, making it one of the biggest car clubs in the Lithgow area.
Rather than going down the lines of a blokey style of club, the Mountain Cruizers Car Club is a family orientated club that does a lot of charity work within the local community.
Members of the club have a large range of vehicles that include cars, motorbikes, trucks, military vehicles, caravans and boats all ranging from the early 1930s to 2016.
The vehicles are quite often used at events, the latest being the Anzac Day march where one member used his military style vehicle in the parade.
During the club’s anniversary dinner three members, who were the founding members of the Mountain Cruizers Car Club, were awarded Certificates of Appreciation.
Garry Young, Rob Farnsworth and Kyle Lewis (pictured holding certificates) are still active members of the club and have helped to make it the club it is today.
This year the club will be holding their bi-annual charity car show.
The show will be on Sunday October 16 at the Lithgow Showground. Pre-entry forms are now available online at www.mountainscruizerscarclub. com.au.
It is recommended that you take advantage of the pre-entry as there is a $5 savings on the entry fee and priority entry into the showground.
The club is expecting a record entry this year as the show has a new format with something to see for everyone.
It is a charity event so any profits made will be donated back to local charity.
One beneficiary will be the newly formed Lithgow branch of CAN Assist.
