THE Lithgow City Band and the Lithgow City Council have been awarded state government funding for local projects.
Member for Bathurst Paul Toole congratulated these organisations on their funding win.
Mr Toole said the Lithgow City Band will receive $1950 towards their project which will undertake restoration and development musical workshops leading to performance for beginning or returning musicians to develop their skills and become permanent members of the band.
The Lithgow City Council will be receiving $2795 towards their Towering Terrors Project which will involve youth participation in learning stilt walking, character development and roving street theatre techniques with a focus on creating characters for the Lithgow Halloween Festival in 2016.
“This funding showcases the state government’s commitment to increasing opportunities for participation in arts and cultural activities in local communities.
“I wish them every success in their projects which I am sure the community will enjoy.
“Our local region is full of artistic talent and I’m chuffed the government is supporting our community to develop new skills and reach new audiences.”
Deputy Premier and Minister for the Arts Troy Grant said the government is focused on ensuring art and culture thrives throughout regional NSW.
The funding will be provided through the Country Arts Support Program, administered by Regional Arts NSW on behalf of Arts NSW.
