NO matter how often you are involved with people who have been diagnosed with cancer, the thought of the dreaded disease does not get any easier.
There are not too many people throughout Lithgow who have not been touched by cancer in some way or another and there are a lot of people out there doing their bit to fight the disease.
Some nurses from the Lithgow District Hospital have one of their own hit by this disease.
The nurses also work with many patients who suffer from these types of illnesses on a daily basis and have banded together to raise money during November Pancreatic Cancer Awareness month.
The month of awareness theme is to create awareness by wearing purple — “Purple With A Purpose”.
The nurses have issued an invitation to the community to come to the Lithgow Workmens Club this Sunday starting at 2.30pm in the Tuscan Gardens to watch them “chop, colour or shave for a friend”.
If you so desire you can join in to be chopped, coloured or shaved by the nurses — it is all for a good cause.
As part of the afternoon, persons will be entertained by Sharron Bowman who will start her performance around 3pm.
Come along, put on the purple and take part in lucky door prizes, raffles, fun and games and a sausage sizzle will also be operation.
All proceeds from the day will be donated to the Simmons Family Fundraiser.
If you are unable to attend and wish to donate, contact Family First Credit Union.
Donations to the Simmons family can also be made online via the website www.

A big thank you goes out to the Workies for their support and to all the other business who have got behind the Pancreatic Cancer Awareness afternoon.
