BATHURST Phantoms got a reminder just how hard it is going to be in their debut year in the Shane Wright Memorial Wallerawang baseball competition.
The Phantoms came up against the defending premiers with the Lizards inflicting a 23-6 defeat on them.
Too many basic errors cost them with the Lizards capitalising on their inexperience to run up a big score.
The Lizards are yet to taste defeat and look early favourites to defend their premiership title.
Best for the undefeated Lizards were BJ Hemmy, Brett Matthews, Peter Lewis and Juzen Takahira.
Bathurst tried hard but were clearly outclassed with their best being Jarrod Portuguese, Nathan Marwell, Brad Black and Jamie Mollena.
In the other match, Raptors proved too good for Cougars winning 17-8.
Raptors had too many guns with their best being Tim reeve, Josh Howard, Terry Gill and Aron Dellabosca.
Cougars' best were Joel Cameron, Chris Kearney, Jason lane and Graham Bray.
The Wallerawang Baseball Association will be holding a Muster Day on Saturday December 12 at the Wang Lake Diamond for tee ballers.
If there is enough interest tee ball will start after Christmas and persons wanting further information can contact John Kearney, Arron Bailey or Peter Nunan or just turn up on the day.
