More than $4000 was raised by the small group of auxiliary volunteers to enable the purchase of extra items to enhance the lives of the residents of Cooinda and Tanderra Aged Homes.
The residents and friends who attended enjoyed the summery weather and trading was brisk.
Lithgow Lions Club members and Terry Fitzpatrick spun the chocolate wheel which was popular as were the numerous stalls.
Face painting artist Kerena Lampton was kept busy by young and old alike.
One of the busiest areas was the morning tea table where patrons were able to enjoy a Devonshire tea for a small cost.
Entertainment was provided by Lithgow Linedancers, Absolute Dance Studio, Valley School of Highland Dancing and Lithgow Bellydancers all of whom gave their time freely.
The spectators were warmly appreciative of their efforts.
Kim Durie, owner of the Highland School of Dancing, won the raffle.
Thanks go to the many sponsors of the event including Lithgow City RSL Sub-Branch, D and J Ford, Member for Bathurst Paul Toole, Family First Credit Union, Lithgow Lions Club, Taronga Western Plains Zoo, the Australian Museum, the Powerhouse Museum, Barry Cosier Solicitors, Blooms Chemist, Target Lithgow, Coles Lithgow, Bunnings Lithgow, Lean and Bennett Toyota, Australian National Maritime Museum, Lithgow Workies and Le Fevre and Co Solicitors.
Thank you also to the many people who donated cakes and craft items, and to the staff members of Lithgow Aged Care Ltd and relatives of residents who helped out on the day.
Publicity for the event was provided by the Lithgow Mercury, 2LT Lithgow Village Voice and numerous Facebook sites.
Without the help and support of the Lithgow community the fair would not have been such a successful day.
