The handicap section went to another family combination in Mitch and Joss Luka.

The Nightingales put a big gap between them and the rest of the field when they finished the 27 hole tournament with a score of 113.

Next best were runners-up Andrew Burton and Anthony Boza on 120.

It was another family pairing that took out the handicap section of the foursomes with Mitch Luka and son Joss the best on 109¾ nett.

It was a good effort by Joss who has only been playing competition golf for a short time.

Runners-up to the Lukas were Steve Lewicki and Geoff Wheeler on 110¾ nett.

Nearest the pin awards went to Anthony Boza on the ninth (175cm) and Greg Hunter on the 18th (334cm).

Monthly medals

A stroke event was held with the miserable weather restricting the field, although there were a fair number of hardy golfers who battled it out for the monthly medals held in conjunction.

The event was sponsored by JR Conveyors with the club appreciative of their support.

It was a good weekend for Anthony Boza who took out the A grade section with 72 nett with runner-up Darren Hunter one back on 73 nett on a countback.

In B grade, Pat Wall returned the best nett score of the day with Wall finishing with 70 nett.

Mitch Luka was runner-up on 71 nett.

C grade saw Gary Walker take the major voucher with 76 nett with Paul Bailey next best on 81 nett.

Best scratch scores were: A grade Darren Hunter 73, B grade Mitch Luka 81 and C grade Gary Walker 96.

The monthly medals went to the respective grade winners — Boza, Wall and Walker.

Nearest the pin awards: Paul Bailey on the second (123cm); Bob Charlton on the fourth (694cm); Brian Bourke on the ninth (151cm); Greg Guest on the 13th (332cm) and Warren McKern on the 18th (230cm).

Balls winners were Andrew Burton, Damien Marjoram, Don Wolfenden, Wes McKern, Max Nightingale and Graham Dean.

Balls cut out on 74 nett.
