And the youngest age division players were certainly on the move as the Wallerawang junior rugby league sides took to the fields last Saturday.
With the school holidays here Wallerawang will host the minis, mods, Oz Tag and seniors on July 18.
The under 10s will take on St Pats White with the under 12s taking on Cyms in a top of the table clash.
WJRL will be having a fundraising-social night at the Wallerawang Bowling Club on Friday.
Wang junior league wishes under 8 coach Cal McGowan a speedy recovery and look forward to having him back on the paddock with the little ones.
Under 7
The Wallerawang Strong players were up against Storm Cyclones in a great match.
Mitchell Lane led the team as captain, running well and being persistent in his defence.
Lowan Francis scored three tries and was a rewarded with the player of the match award.
Coach Craig Brown is impressed with Lowan’s strong defence and great attacking skills.
Max Alexander again tackled well and made some great runs.
Matthew Purdon has gained confidence over the last few weeks and was keen to have a run.
Curtis Brown scored a try and ran hard while Brodie Carter showed off his elusive side step and played well.
Coaches Craig Brown and Evan Carter are impressed with Strong developing as a team each week and in this match they showed great skill when offloading in tackles.
Under 8
Wang Fierce took on Lithgow Thunder in their first game of the day where the defence was solid.
Bryce Carter made some strong tackles with Jimmy Stewart and Kyle Smith in support.
Attack was strong with Brandon Dewar and Cody Phillips running rings around the opposition scoring two tries each.
Brody Hart also made strong runs scoring two tries.
Cooper Milton made his way through the defence to score followed by a successful conversion by Ty Hanrahan.
Cody and Brandon were also successful in converting a try each.
The second game saw Fierce take on Lithgow Lightning.
Fierce worked together in defence to slow the opposition down.
Cody Phillips led the tackles with strong support from Jimmy Stewart, Brody Hart and Cooper Milton.
In attack Fierce were full of determination to break through the strong Lightning defence.
Jai McMillan, Kyle Smith and Ty Hanrahan made some good strong runs to gain ground.
Brandon Dewar once again found the gaps to cross the line twice with a successful conversion along with Bryce Carter using his skills to move through the defence to score.
In Wang Brave’s game the kids had an absolute ball and it showed in their performance.
They played extremely well.
Thanks go to Brandon and Cody for filling in to boost the numbers.
Game stats were Cody and Andrew three tries and Bryce, Brandon and Jai a try each.
Gabby also scored her first try this week.
Ned’s defence was first class with Ronald also putting in a great effort.
It’s great to see all the kids so keen each week and how much they have improved.

Under 10
It was always going to be a tough game for the under 10s taking on the third placed side on the ladder Bloomfield on their home ground.
It was evenly matched from the start with both teams displaying why they are towards the top of the ladder.
Both defence and attack were strong.
With only one reserve and some niggling injuries after an intensive week of rugby league it needed to be a team effort to pull this one off.
Roman Peters demonstrated his skill working well with Wil Stockton to score three tries and making a conversion.
Wil again showed his all-round rugby league skills to be an outstanding asset to the team, also making a successful conversion.
Kayden Whitney had one of his best games for the season and was strong in all areas including scoring a try.
Aydan Thomas stepped up his defensive game and was able to convert a try.
Bailey Brown was back to his old self clearly demonstrating he is a force to be reckoned with in defence.
Byron Lamborn had a good all-round game with clear direction.
Saezar Scanlan as full back was well placed to receive the ball, with forwards Jett Bullock and Laith Lewis running the ball hard when they had the opportunity.
Noah Stait had an outstanding game making some good runs in the wing.
Josh Camberwell and Tom Collins continue to learn about the game making the right decision about play.
The final score was 22-10 in favour of Wang.
Under 12
The 12s had a tough game against one of the top teams on the ladder in Bloomfield on their home ground.
The game could have gone either way, with a Wang victory deserved but the calls not going Wang’s way when it counted.
The final score was Bloomfield 16 to Wang’s 10.
Best for the game was Sam Lane who finished with two tries, Ben Fraser, Lachlan Taylor and Cooper Nunan. Dane Hart kicked a goal.
