Along the way they defeated Lithgow Primary, Blayney and Bathurst Small Schools before being defeated by Orange Public School as one of the final four schools in the Western Region competition.
Wang’s ability to combine as a team and their strong defence certainly won them games.
Coach Chris Brown has worked hard with the boys during the term and their commitment to training has certainly paid off.
The team is a mix of ages from nine year olds through to 12 year olds with a mixture of experience and abilities, but regardless they are supportive of, and encouraging of, each other.
Lachlan Taylor has been fearless and after joining the Wang under 12 team after many years at soccer is proving to be a real natural.
His team mate Kye Cameron used his vision during the matches.
Ben Fraser had outstanding all-round games.
Eamyn Quinn was strong during the games with some hard running to make ground, with Cooper Nunan displaying outstanding effort and skill throughout the competition.
Wil Stockton demonstrated his abilities which found him a place in the 11s Western side.
Oscar Gordon as a strong forward shows he is a force to be reckoned with running the ball well and tackling hard.
He is consistent in his play and looks out for his team mates.
Wade Fraser had some great runs using his size and strength to run through defensive lines and make good ground.
William Jackson, Lachlan Reilly, Dane Hart and Lachlan Schroder form well as part of the team undertaking the roles they are asked to play.
Both Donny and Roman Peters have demonstrated they are an asset to the team since enrolling from Lithgow Primary.
The younger members of the team Saezar Scanlan, Bailey Brown, Aydan Thomas and Byron Lamborn, who are all only nine, are holding their own during the games and supporting their team mates.
The team members are congratulated for their efforts and should be proud of what they have achieved for themselves, the school and Rugby League in Wallerawang.
A huge thank you to coach Chris Brown as without his support the team would not have been as successful. He has nurtured their skills, given them time and been conscious of developing a real team spirit.
Acknowledgement also goes to the coaches of Wallerawang Junior League Ben Lane and Jason Nunan for the 12s and Chris Brown for the 10s who have worked extremely hard over the seasons in both good times and challenging to build the skill level of the majority of players.
The developed and respectful relationship fostered between the school and Wallerawang Rugby League has certainly contributed to the success of both club and school.
Thanks also to Jason Nunan who has helped out by running the water and offering advice.
