The girls started the game well and were completing a high percentage of their sets to constantly pressure the Hawks defence.
On the back of this sustained pressure dummy half Jade Cameron took advantage of a lazy marker and crossed over from dummy half to give the Wolves their first try.
Chrissie West converted to give them a 6-nil lead.
Hawks defence was very strong and they had the Wolves pinned in their own half for a long period of time until West put in a huge effort to kick from her own half and chase the ball and tag the Hawks girl in her own in goal to force a drop out.
West took advantage of this good field position and split the defence and scored a great try of her own which she then converted.
With only three minutes remaining in the first half the Wolves scored their best try of the game when West split the line again and Hanna Healey showed her speed to back up.
West drew the fullback to put Healey in under the posts for an excellent try which West converted to give the Wolves an 18-nil half time lead.
Orange Hawks controlled possession early in the second half and were first to score under the posts which they converted to make the score 18-6.
It only took the Wolves three minutes to hit back when West took the ball to the line and with a show and go split the defence to score out wide.
West missed the conversion to give the Wolves a 22-6 lead.
The Wolves bench was starting to get bare with game ending injuries to key players Tahlia Nugent and Mallory Goodman forcing some of the girls to step up and play out of position.
Katie McGuinness and Dayna Stockton were excellent after being forced to play out of position due to these injuries.
The Wolves defence was constantly putting pressure on the Hawks.
The constant pressure caused an error which Ashleigh Oldfield pounced on to run away and score an excellent try which was again converted by West.
The Wolves girls were starting to tire late in the half due to being forced to play longer minutes due to the injuries and Hawks scored and converted a late try to make the final score 28-12.
The whole team put in an excellent effort with Chrissie West being the standout with great support coming from Katie McGuinness, Ashleigh Oldfield, Hanna Healey and Shannon Legge.
