In first division on Sunday the Wolves were hoping for a victory over Orange Hawks on the road to push them up the ladder, but that wasn’t to be the case when they were narrowly beaten 24-18, leaving them in a battle to break into the top five.
The under 18 players found the going even harder against the competition leaders Hawks being well beaten 32-10.
Like the first division side the under 18 Wolves are also in a battle to stay in touch with the top five and force they way into the play-offs later in the season.
It was left to to League Tag girls to start the ball rolling at Orange, running in five tries in their 28-12 win over the Hawks.
The good win leaves them in fifth spot on the ladder, but with Blayney and Hawks breathing down their necks.
For local league followers, they will get their chance to see the Wolves in action this weekend when they meet Bathurst Panthers at the Tony Luchetti Sportsground.
