Kurt Frandsen, 72, was carrying out maintenance on the roof of his two storey heritage home in Hassans Walls Road when he fell several metres to a first floor landing.
Emergency services that converged on the scene faced a challenge in removing him from the roof.
He was eventually stretchered through an upper level window and through the house to a waiting ambulance.
After the short transfer to the Conran Oval he was flown by ambulance helicopter to Westmead Hospital.
A family member said yesterday Mr Frandsen — a member of a well known local family business in past years — remained in intensive care but was making a good recovery.
He is being treated for a fractured arm, dislocated shoulder and fractured ribs.
