Despite keeping a low profile the club has continued to grow and attract new members.
School programs have also been held to introduce youngsters to the skills needed to compete in what has traditionally been seen by many as an older person’s sport.
But the same was said in the past about lawn bowls — a theory these days well and truly put to rest.
These days Lithgow Croquet Club is continuing a campaign to inform potential new members and there was another first when the club had a presence at Ironfest, offering all and sundry an introduction to the sport.
Club vice president Cindy Walker was on hand to answer questions and hand out tips to one and all drumming up members for their club that sits alongside the hockey and tennis facilities at Glanmire Park.
