They have been in good form and cruised to a good 5-1 win over a good Zig Zag Black side.
Scorers for Lansdowne Jays were Tayla McLean (2), Lyndal Marshall, Beth McGrath and Karen Luka.
Jays have been strengthened this year with the inclusion of top line players Jess Townsend and Beth McGrath who are making a return after a couple of years out of the game.
Both are quality players and will be real assets.
Tayla McLean continued her scoring feats from last year with a double and had good support from Hilary Pilbeam who was among Jays’ best along with Karen Luka.
Zig Zag tried hard to stop Jays’ scoring with Janna Winnard controlling the mid field setting Kerrie Morrison up with a goal in the first half.
Best in the second half for Zig Zag were Christine Stapleton and Lashay Chew.
The score would have been much more only for goalie Kate Bender who stopped a lot of Jays’ attack.
Ziggies Blue def Workies Blue 4-nil: Zig Zag’s midfield was strong, with Kymberley Wilson and Tegan Walsh leading up front.
Zig Zag dominated the first half with Wilson scoring in the first half.
They continued to pressure Workies with some great passing and Ngaire Unsworth, Suzanne Yeo and Dannii Lemcke all added to the scoresheet with good goals.
Jess Leard was outstanding in a team where all played well.
Scorers for Zig Zag Blue were Kymberley Wilson, Ngaire Unsworth, Suzanne Yeo and Dannii Lemcke.
Workies Blue tried hard and it was good to see Natalie Howard back playing after a spell on the sideline and she quickly showed that she has not lost any of her skills.
Shelby Roberts was strong in the middle with support from Kiara Griffiths while Cheryl Rutherford was solid in defence.
Workies Gold def Cruizers 4-nil: The teamwork of Workies was first class with young star Breanna Muir and Nicole Stevenson again dominating the attack.
Tiarna Anderson and Tracey Baker were strong in defence while Tammy Barber controlled the play from the centre and distributed the ball around the field.
Cruizers played well in patches, but could not covert their play into goals.
Janine Griffiths and Katrina Miller were again at their consistent best while keeper Army Bryce pulled off some good saves.
