Arguably the form team of the tournament having wiped the floor with Orange City and Blayney in their only two games, Lithgow’s toughest test is tomorrow against the green and golds at the alternative venue of Country Club Oval.
Win, and a finals spot is in the Lightning’s grasp.
Lose, with City looming, and all of a sudden three sides with similar records - Lithgow, CYMS and the Warriors - will have to fight it out for two spots.
Although down both Jono Van Veen and Jeremy Fittler, Lithgow quick Chris Redding said the equation for his side was pretty simple.
“There’s a lot on the line, but if we stick to our game we’ll be fine,” Redding said.
“We know CYMS have played really well in their last three games. We’re on a different wicket this time so hopefully we can adjust to that too.
“We should do well, we’re missing two guys from our last game which isn’t ideal but the two guys we’ve got coming in will be able to do the job.”
CYMS, though, can’t afford a loss.
Wicketkeeper-batsman Dave Neil says an undermanned CYMS will have to be at the top of their game to defeat the Lightning.
“I know Lithgow have a couple out, but we’re without Sammy Dwyer, who we’ve really relied upon in Twenty20 cricket,” he said.
“We’ve got everything to play for. Win and we’re probably through, lose and we’re watching.
“It’s a big weekend for the club with our 70th anniversary game on Monday, so there’ll be few old boys floating about I’d say. We’ll be looking to do them proud.
Tomorrow’s match will begin at 3pm for Lithgow and CYMS at Country Club Oval.
Obvious fans of Wade Park having recorded two, big eight-wicket victories at the ground, Lithgow is hoping the change in venue won’t hurt their chances of a similar result against CYMS.
“We played out there [at Country Club] at the start of the year with the Rod Hartus Trophy and it was a bit flat then. Hopefully there’s a bit more life in it on Sunday and it’s not too hot of a day,” Redding added.
