Our Dux of the Academy Saxon Farquhar proved a worthy recipient of the award by achieving an ATAR result of 97.75 which places him in the top 2.2 per cent of the NSW canditure.
The other two outstanding results were achieved by Reagan Wyer and Irena Muss.
“What was particularly pleasing was that these three students achieved multiple band 6’s which I can assure you is not an easy feat,’ Mr Emms said.
The band 6 levels were achieved in the subjects of English Advanced, English Extension 1, English Extension 2, Studies of Religion 1 unit, Business Studies and Mathematics.
Also the subjects of Biology, Chemistry, Construction, Drama, Hospitality, Human Services, Metals and Engineering, Music 1, Music 2, PDHPE, Studies of Religion 2 unit, Visual Arts had students achieving results in the top two bands.
A 100 per cent success rate of results in the top three bands was achieved in the subjects of Construction, English Extension 1, English Extension 2, Human Services, Mathematics Extension 1, Music Extension, Music 1 and Music 2.
“My congratulations to both the teachers and students on achieving these fine results.
“One result worthy of mention was Reagan Wyer’s mark of 89 in Standard English.
“This result places her in the top 0.5 per cent of the total canditure.
“I might add that this subject attracts the largest cohort of any subject in the HSC and to achieve at this level is outstanding.
“Also noteworthy is the entry of students into university.
Prior to the results being published approximately 33 per cent of the cohort were accepted in university.
This takes a lot of pressure off students anxiously waiting for their results,” Mr Emms said.
“Overall, a very solid performance.
A big thank you to all the staff and parents in getting the students to reach their full potential.”
