Connor was diagnosed with cancer and has been travelling back and forward to the Nepean Hospital for treatment.
Schoolmate Olivia Thurtell and teacher Brendan O'Keefe approached principal John Emms with the idea for his friends to 'shave' their locks to raise money for his expenses.
The 'shave' snowballed from a couple of students to a small army of his friends and classmates with a number of teachers and staff getting on board to also help out with this worthy cause.
Principal Emms said: “It was great and another example of the generosity of the Lithgow community.
“I was so proud of the students and teachers who were involved it seemed to bring the school all together into a close knit community.
“The whole school was involved with the students cheering those getting haircuts and encouraging the hairdressers to take off more and more.
“I would also like to thank the hairdressers who gave up their time to give some of our rough heads a pretty good haircut.
“They were Melissa Stockton and Lauren Blaker from Gloss Hair in Wallerawang and Charmaine Towers from Smik Hair in Portland.
“Money raised from the big shave was nearly $3000 and once again thanks to all those who contributed to the amount.”
It was a fun afternoon with enough hair left on the La Salle hall to stuff a number of big bags.
One of the biggest 'earners' was teacher Brendan O'Keefe who sold off his dead locks to students who lined up on stage to cut off one at a time.
