The Flash was a chance for the Little ‘As’ to compete on the big stage and their performances over the years has brought glowing praise from the crowd.
Last year’s junior Flash champions were Luke Thompson and Robertson who headed a good crop of young Lithgow athletes.
Lithgow Little Athletics continue to churn out top young athletes who have starred in local competitions along with regional and state tournaments.
They have a very strong executive that tries to promote a family atmosphere, fun, competitiveness and fitness.
The executive also encourages youngsters to achieve their personal best and goals for the season.
“One of the highlights for our club has always been the Flash Gift, and it is disappointing that it had to be cancelled,” club president Graham ‘Charlie’ Healey said.
“It has been a good year for us, with our club hosting the Regionals that attracted hundreds of young competitors, families and friends.
“The Lithgow Showground was a picture with some great racing taking place over two days.
“Our athletes performed well over the year, both at school and at club level with many making it through to the state championships.
“Hopefully, the Flash will be back next year, bigger and better than ever.”
Lithgow Athletics understands the importance of developing physical fitness at any early age for children of all abilities.
Children are encouraged to have fun while enjoying their sport within a friendly and interactive environment.
Lithgow Athletics is a voluntary organisation with the Lithgow club enjoying great support from the volunteers who without their efforts, the club would not be able to continue.
Competitions are now back in action of a Friday afternoon and everyone is welcome to come to the Lithgow Showground athletics track and join up.
Parents are also encouraged to become involved as an official, managing an age group, recording results or working in the canteen.
Every little bit helps.
Little Athletics is one of the few sports where parents can become fully involved in their child’s sporting interests.
