Victory went to Rick Slaven (lead), Gil Mendoza and Adam Favell, the trio now being multiple titleholders of various events at the City club.
It was especially sweet for Favell who added the triples title to his fours championship this year, making it a double-double… Favell skipping teams to the same titles last year.
It was in the end a comprehensive win for Favell and his cohorts over Ian Townsend, Frank Mierczak and Jim Lahache, scoring two shots on the 20th end resulting in Townsend conceding defeat.
The game was tight up until the 13th end at 10-9, although Favell did have a mini break on the sixth end when he led 7-3.
The Favell trio then rolled off another five consecutive ends to establish a commanding 24-9 lead.
In his semi final Favell narrowly survived a tough fight against Jeff Madden, Jim Kelly and Kevin Shorney while Townsend and Co also had a tough, but slight easier, win over Bob Brown, Garry McGuirk and Bill Neubeck 23-17.
Earlier rounds resulted in Favell defeating Townsend defeating Don Kenniff, Jack Rayner and Jim Bannerman 18-17; Bob Brown, Matt Jeffree and Bill Neubeck def Mark Sheppard, Mark Perry and Barry Perry 21-20; and Jeff Madden, Wayne Allen and Kevin Shorney def A Roach, Col Wotton and Mike Johnson 24-20.
Play is ongoing in the McMurtrie Mixed Pairs title, although without play or forfeits at this stage, and some games have resulted in: Irene Watkins and Stan Campbell def Lesley Wright and Darryl Wright 17-16; Garry and Gaye McGuirk def Norma Farrant and Tim Breen 26-9; Mark and Tracey Sheppard def Ken and Kerry Bernard 32-8; and Norma Farrant and Tim Breen def Brian and Gloria Davidson 20-19.
The schedule is now up to the quarter final stage.
