Sportsgrounds require annual maintenance in order to keep them safe and ready for play, including top dressing to level out the surface.
As such, top dressing that started recently at Tony Luchetti Sportsground on Field No 1 will see the ground in top condition for the Lithgow Flash Gift track, weather permitting.
“Now that summer is here, council’s recreation staff have been busy getting the fields into top condition for another six months of activities,” Lithgow mayor Maree Statham said.
“Many of our fields are multi purpose and are used for both winter and summer sports.
“The Tony Luchetti Showground is probably our best example of this, with the touch and the cricket competitions already under way.
“The demand on these fields is huge and our staff do great work in preparing these ready for the many people that use them each year,” Cr Statham said.
To develop recreational facilities that will meet the needs of the community now and into the future is part of Council’s Developing Our Built Environment Strategy in the Community Strategic Plan 2026.
