For the fourth year in a row sign writers from around the country will come together to paint the town, not just red, but an array of colours as they reproduce sings of yesteryear.
What first began in 2001 as a sign writers get together just for fun, it has turned into an annual event for the whole community.
This year (if they can find a ladder tall enough) the RSL will have a Spitfire plane painted on it.
Frosty Clarke custard powder will be added to the collection and the Wallnuts will also reproduce a 1925 Banner Hosiery Co sign they have dug up from the archives.
These will just be some of the signs so it will be worth your while to take a trip out to Portland just to see what else these wacky wall painters come up with.
On a sad note, regular Wallnut Bruce Ruston, will not join the painters this year.
Bruce was responsible for the Billy Tea sign just outside the Foodworks door.
Bruce has now gone to meet the head painter and will be missed by the sign writers community that descends on Portland each year.
His wife however will be in town to check out her beloved’s artwork and capture the moment on camera.
Friday afternoon, Saturday and Sunday from 10am — it’s a must see to locals and visitors alike
