It is a race engine V8 and started it’s life as a 2010 Hilux Cab that took in several modifications and had a roll over protection installed, custom drive line and suspension and sticky compound rock crawling tyres.
The truck is set up with four wheel steering, build to withstand a lot of punishment.
The team has been competing for five years in Mark’s old truck, but sold it off to build this truck to be a front runner at the Tuff Truck challenge in Milberdale in the Hunter Valley.
“It’s an event that you have to win small events and be nominated to enter Tuff Truck,” Mark said.
“More or less it’s the grand final of the rock crawling scene.
“This year we were placed fourth, missing out on third by two points.
“Tuff Truck runs off a 1-5 position due to the difficulty of the 13 course set out over three days and consisted of night stages and day time stages in some of the biggest rock in Australia.
“We had the truck finished 3am the night before we left and manage to not break anything all weekend.
“You get scored on each track from point marker 10-100 plus 25 point bonus at the end.
“If you can drive an even harder section of the track you can get awarded with more points.
“There are numerous penalties that can be incurred for many things that causes deductions from your final scoring on the course like reversing, bunting or pole touched with the vehicle etc.”
Mark and Matt thank their many friends and family for their support at this year’s Tuff Truck, their valued sponsors Roadrunner Off-road, Repco Lithgow, Halo Performance Lighting, Off-road Cartel Clothing, Peters Earthmoving, Low Range Off-road, Harrop Elockers,
