The trio from Green Gully were welcomed home as heroes by a massive crowd that cheered, waved home made flags and chanted ‘Brothers 3! Brothers 3!’ for more than an hour as the brothers and their mentor took part in a giant street parade.
“This is so awesome,” band member Tayzin said.
“We weren’t expecting anywhere near this many people to turn up.”
Group’s mentor Danni Minogue was equally as impressed with the turn out, handing out hugs and high-fives, and thanking the local community for the support they had shown Makirum, Shardyn and Tayzin Fahey-Leigh over the past few months.
“Now that I’ve been to Mudgee I see why there are three rays of sunshine up in stage.
“They bring everything from their home town into Fox Studios every week,” Ms Minogue said.
“After a morning spent out on the Fahey-Leigh farm catching sheep, and an afternoon filled with photo shoots and X-Factor duties, the boys said they were awed by the amount of people from the Mid-Western region who had shown up to help them kick off the night in style.
“We wouldn’t be here, we wouldn’t be anywhere near here, without you.
“So thank you guys, we love you all,” Makirum said.
The concert got under way from 5pm with a series of songs — Que Sera, 500 Miles, Story of My Life, and Massachusetts — that Brothers 3 had performed on X-Factor over the past few weeks and were now in the ARIA charts.
But the night didn’t stop there as once the cameras stopped rolling, Brothers 3 took to the stage once more to play several of their own songs for the adoring crowd.
Tune into X-Factor at the special time of 8pm tomorrow night to see the brothers take to the stage for the right to be crowned the 2014 X-Factor winner.
The results will be announced on Monday from 7.30pm and voting will close at midday on Monday, October 20.
