But more and more local youngsters — both girls and boys — are starting to make their presence felt at the highest of levels.
Young Logan Inwood is one of these youngsters starting to emerge and the talented youngster has been selected in the under 14 Country Boys state team.
He will take part in the FFA National Youth Championships next month held in Coffs Harbour.
Logan has named in the Country side following impressive efforts for the Western Mariners side in the Regional League.
His road to make the Country state team has not been easy and has tested his dedication and love for the sport.
Each weekend for many months, Logan has travelled all over the state playing and training and his Country selection is a reward for his arduous journey.
“I am really looking forward to playing in the championships,” Logan said.
“I will be up against the best and our country side looks very strong and hopefully we will do well.
“I would like to thank my coaches Brian Rosewarne and Scott Mutton who have been very patient and have taught me a lot about the game.
“I would also like to thank my parents (Heidi and Gary) for supporting me right from the start, they have always been encouraging and helpful.”
Logan is another of Lithgow’s many all round sportspersons we are famous for and excels in a number of other sports besides football, including touch, swimming, basketball and athletics.
He has all the attributes to go a long way in the game of football.
He is extremely skilful, has tonnes of speed, reads the game well and has a great attitude.
Growing up Logan played for the Workies Redbacks Club and a big future in the game is predicted for him.
