Imperfect timing
THERE were a lot of very very angry people around the place on Friday night when the commercial television channels went into meltdown. There was almost rioting in the lounge rooms of the town — and that was just the hordes who spend their nights watching the shopping channels. Don’t even mention the frantic footy fans who were just about demented when they directed their spleen at WIN seeking urgent answers before the first of the footy finals ended. But it didn’t happen. The TV screens remained blank and ‘signalless’ until well after the Rabbitohs had walloped the Sea Eagles. The problems that beset the channels could not have come at a worse time for the football fanatics — or for the advertisers who had paid big money for this prime time slot. As we understand it radio had its biggest audience in years.
