Time to unload
DO you have an old unwanted sewing machine or a computer tucked away in the back of your shed or somewhere? Time then for a spring clean and let the blokes from the Lithgow Men’s Shed put this household junk to good use. It’s all part of an appeal by the Men’s Shed organisation across the Central West to collect unwanted sewing machines and computers to be born again for use where they’re needed. Drop in and see the boys at the Lithgow Men’s Shed in the former Lithgow Swimming Centre amenities block in Fred Burley Drive.

The firies need you
ARE you interested in helping provide a vital and priceless service to your community — and get paid for it? The Lithgow (Cook Street) fire station has vacancies for what are termed retained firefighters, both men and women. It’s challenging work that requires availability on short notice at all hours of the day and night but if you feel you’re up to it then this is your chance to get involved in one of the nation’s most respected services. But you’ll need to be quick; you only have until next Friday. Inquiries at the Cook Street station or by phoning the zone office on 4782 2568 during business hours.
VRA’s AGM
ANOTHER essential service in times of need is the Lithgow VRA (the volunteer rescue squad). All concerned are advised that the annual general meeting of the Lithgow VRA is set down for this Wednesday night (September 10) at the organisation’s shed at 148 Mort Street (next door to the University of Western Sydney car park).
