He will oversee three clubs and a motel – a returned soldiers, country and bowling club.
Mr Alexander and wife Sandy and family moved to Lithgow after a successful stint as manager of the Darling Downs Country Club that is situated on the border to take over as manager of the Lithgow Workmens Club from the then long term manager Wayne Allan back in 2008.
As manager, he continued the outstanding success of the Lithgow Workmens Club and saw that it ran at a sizeable profit each year.
He said: “I have been very lucky to have worked with great board and staff members that have made my stay in Lithgow very pleasant.
“The Lithgow lifestyle has suited me and Sandy and we have made many friends throughout the community.
“I would like to thank the entire Lithgow community for making us feel so welcome and we look forward to returning on occasions to catch up with old friends.
“We have enjoyed our time in Lithgow but the chance to move back to the border to be close to my daughter and her family was just too attractive.
“It was very pleasing to see Geoff Wheeler appointed as my successor.
"He has been a great asset during my time at the club and knows the workings of the club better than most.
“I wish him and the board all the best for the future.”
Mr Wheeler was born and bred in Lithgow and has entrenched himself deep in the fabric of Lithgow and district.
While in Lithgow the Alexanders have enjoyed the district's sporting scene with Sandy prominent in tennis while Michael spends his leisure time on the golf course.
Before taking over the reins at Barham they will enjoy a month's holiday in Europe.
