Going into the match coach Graeme Osborne was ringing around to find out just what players he had for the match with the side having been decimated for the past month or so.
The side that ran out still had enough fire power to give the Wolves a last match win.
Neither side had anything to play for, but the standard was quite high with both sides looking to finish their season on a bright note.
At the break, Workies had edged ahead to lead 8-6 through tries to Keelan Bresac and Ngamanu Winitana.
The Wolves were always in complete control of the game and continued to edge away to finally run out 26-12 winners.
Second half tries went to Jamie Clarke with Keelan Bresac who has been in good form of late registering his second try of the match with Clarke converting it.
The final try went to Josh Howarth with Kip Maranda stepping up in an uncustomary role as goalkicker to convert it.
The Wolves' forwards were too strong with captain Chris Rhodes,Corey Willmott and Steve Lang all prominent in both attack and defence.
Big Luke Morris had one of his best matches of the season setting up Bresac's first try from a good cut out pass and also got several good offloads away in traffic.
Clarke as he has been all year was dangerous around the ruck while centres Winitana and Bresac played well and were a real handful for the Tigers' defence with their speed.
First division's Jai Straney and Hayden Cornwell both made their first grade debut on the day.
A thrill for the Cornwells was that Hayden got to play with his father Brad in premier league when Brad also backed up from first division.
A special mention goes to Josh Howarth who played a full game at halfback after backing up from first division.
The Wolves will now sit back, look back on the season and then start rebuilding for 2015 into the powerhouse club that they have been over the past decade.
