CAR club visits have become a big money spinner for the Lithgow area tourism thanks to our proximity to Sydney for a convenient Saturday or Sunday drive. Last week we had the Jaguar Owners Club. Prior to that it was the Thoroughbred Sports Car Club and recently the decidedly upmarket Aston Martin Club . This weekend there’s another club visiting, and this time it’s a first in the column’s experience. It’s the Stax Motorsports Club from Sydney, a group that appears to concentrate on modified Nissan vehicles. Club president Steven Earl said the club is having a ‘car cruise’ to Lithgow on Sunday and will be converging on the Workies for lunch. Steve is expecting about 20 vehicles to roll in and you can check them out at the club from an estimated arrival time around 12 noon.
Odd assortment
THIEVES that are causing a lot of worry for local business proprietors lately can hardly qualify as upmarket crooks. When they broke into the Coffee on Mort café in Mort Street, in Lithgow, at the weekend the total haul comprised half a box of chocolate frogs and a book of sandwich labels. A couple of weeks back when they broke into a hairdressing salon they stole a set of hair curlers. Not really what you’d call organised crime but police are believed to be seeking chocoholics with a straight hair problem.
