There were some outstanding individual efforts, none better than Under 10's Cody Buck who continues to perform at a high level.
Results were:
Under 10:
The Pirtek Storm were at home for their game against Orange CYMS.
They started slowly letting CYMS in for two early tries.
Midway through the first half, Cody Buck charged onto the ball at around the half way line and ran straight through the middle of the CYMS' defence to score a superb try which sparked the Stormers into action.
A further try to Eli Morris gave the Storm Troopers the half time lead 12-8.
The second half began with a great solo try to the "try scoring machine" Billy Rushworth, but the Orange side crossed again after the Storm had held them out for several sets.
The game was a quality one and another Billy Rushworth try gave the points to the Stormers 24-14.
It was a good team effort from all the boys and the defence was relentless, with captain Tyler Buck,Billy Rushworth, Roman Peters and Kaiden Whitney outstanding as well as Man of the Match Cody Buck who is proving to be the Storm's secret weapon.
Under 14:
The D & J Ford Lithgow Storm took on third placed Orange CYMS and were keen to play some good footy in front of their home crowd.CYMS scored early to lead 6-0, but five eighth Kyle Kenworthy soon levelled up after he converted his own try on the back of a strong run by lock Max Nursey.
CYMS hit back again with another try, however Storm levelled up again after a clever play by hooker Tyson Griffiths delivered a perfect inside ball to Prop Tom Morris who crashed over next to the posts.
Kenworthy added the extras and the scores were levelled at 12 all.
CYMS took the ascendancy into the break with another try to lead 16-12.They added a further two tries to stretch their lead to 26-12.
The young Storm boys never gave up and on the back of some good possession fullback Jason McHugh found some space between defenders to score out wide.
Jon Markowski chased through on a kick down field, pressuring the fullback into a mistake which saw the ball land in his arms and with that the skilful centre raced around to score under the posts. The conversion was successful and the Storm trailed CYMS 26-22.
Late in the match and after a few Storm errors, CYMS received a late penalty in front of the sticks to make the final score 28-22.It was a very good effort by the entire Storm team who almost got the two points on the day.Man of the match went to Max Nursey, who relished the switch to the forwards.
Hard running centre Jon Markowski was almost unstoppable, Kenworthy played his first match at five - eighth and handled it extremely well.
Prop Tom Morris dished out plenty to the big CYMS' forwards and was rewarded with a good try. Hooker Tyson Griffiths, fullback Jason McHugh, halfback Ben Inzitari all played well and Connor Farr had one of his best games of the season.
Under 16:
The Lithgow Professionals Storm cruised to a 40-12 win over Oberon in Lithgow.
The Oberon side came out firing and put early pressure on the home side crossing for the first try.
Undauntered Riley Allan carried on his good form from the week before with some barnstorming runs and solid defence that started to turn the momentum.
Karl Wilson and Kaleb "Bam Bam" Richey were both a hand full for the Tigers defence with both crossing for two tries for the match.
The Storm went into the break leading 16-6 but they knew their completion rate had to improve in the second half if they were going to go on and score a win.
Toby Kenniff had a strong match delivering good ball to his backs with Cameron Denley and Nathan O'Donnell crossing for tries.
Jack Rainsford made some good yards for his side as did Jackson Bostock and Jarrod McNair.
Although it was not the boys best performance of the year they were pleased to get the two competition points.
Try scores were Kaleb Richey and Karl Wilson (2), Riley Allan, Cameron Denley, Nathan O'Donnell and Jack Rainsford. Goals were kicked by Josh Kitchner and Cameron Denley (2) and Jarrod McPhail one.
