AFTER a week of miserable weather, Lithgow turned on a beautiful day to welcome over 30 teachers and students from the Kita Senri High School in Japan.

The Japanese school has made the Lithgow visit an annual event with the contingent arriving on Tuesday and billeted out to their host families for the 10 day visit.
Yesterday it was another 'meet and greet' session at Lithgow High and then the students participated in an English lesson with teacher Yoshie Koziciki.
Later in the day, they met Lithgow High principal Ann Caro who welcomed the visitors who were then were taken on a tour of the school.
In the afternoon a cooking lesson was arranged which was lots of fun with the students then completing their journals with the assistance of the students of Lithgow High.
Today it was back to the school for an English lesson with Mr Gasparre and the Year 10 students.
Today’s itinerary also included a welcome assembly in the school's auditorium, participation in a dance lesson, a visit to the school agriculture area followed by a discussion with the Year 7 local students with ipads.
Lithgow students who are studying Japanese had the pleasure of interviewing the Kita Senri students and talked about life in Japan.
Tomorrow, the students and their host families willA warm welcome for exchange visit be boarding buses for a trip to Jenolan Caves.
Saturday will be a relaxing day with their host families and on Sunday there will be an optional tour to Bondi Beach and the Sydney Eastern Suburbs.
There will be more studies on Australian lifestyles on Monday then on Tuesday, the contingent will be off to Featherdale Wildlife Park where the Japanese students are all very excited to see some of Australian's wildlife.
Another highlight will be a disco dress-up dance on Thursday night for the Lithgow High and Japanese students.
On Friday next week a bus trip has been arranged to Wolgan Valley where there will be bush walking and sightseeing.
The following day it will be a sad farewell with the Japanese visitors heading back to Sydney following a morning tea to fly back home.
A spokesperson for the Japanese contingent said: “The students have been looking for to their Australian trip for many months.
“They have spoken to those that have been to Lithgow in the past and all said that they had a wonderful time.
“The Australian landscape is vastly different to ours and it is very impressive.”
